About The Artist
Personality trait- Perfectionist!
I have been an Artist since the age of six. I graduated with a BFA in Design from Kansas University in the spring of 1979. And moved to Salida CO. on New Year’s Eve, 1980. The next 40+ years were spent between Family and Gold-Smithing and Silversmithing. It was as an employee of Jerry Scavezze and Sol Proprietor of Tischer Studios I learned my craft of raising metal with hammers. I managed Gallery150 in Salida CO for over 20 years. In between I have attended countless outdoor and indoor Art and Craft shows, from Coconut Grove Florida to La Quinta CA. I have become a Photographer, and help produce The Salida Arts Festival. My first love is still Forging, Texturing 14k Gold and Argentium Silver into sculptural shapes that can be worn.
I am devoted full time to Tischer Studios and new and original designs in Metal with hand carved stones gracing my “Ribbons”. My “Art Jewelry” is a Celebration of silver and Gold: Fluid musical rhythms that become functional jewelry. Ancient techniques to make contemporary earrings, pendants and bracelets. Anticlastic and Synclastic raising are time consuming but rewarding techniques which allows me an infinite variety of 3-dimensional forms. This technique involves, hammers and raising and stretching the metal along both axis at once like pringle potato chip. Most of my Designs feature my signature texture, which is at once organic and yet sophisticated. I use Argentium silver which is tarnish resistant, 14k or 18K gold, and then stones, pearls, beads are worked in to add movement and color.
