I like mixed media, because it allows me to use many different materials, to help me create what I see in my head. I work with primarily wood, and blow, and fuse glass, along with working with polymer clay. Most pieces start with a piece of wood ,which I mount on a wood lathe, and use tools to form a shape, that is enduring. The shape to me is the most important thing. It will be there when the color and embellishment has faded in a hundred years. Standing proud. Next I add either positive or negative textures, acrylics, Inks ,dyes, pigments, maybe some other mediums, and maybe a little fire, for good luck. This allows me to hold in my hands, what I was just thinking about.
