Tools For Tomorrow
La Quinta Art Celebration are proud to support Tools For Tomorrow, a nonprofit that empowers children through the arts. Their programs in visual arts, music, writing, and theater help students build creativity, confidence, and teamwork. By providing these "tools for tomorrow," they inspire children to thrive and succeed.
Tools For Tomorrow believes the arts have the power to transform a child’s life. By encouraging innovative thinking, fostering creative self-discovery, and promoting collaborative learning, we give children “tools for tomorrow” that will help them grow, thrive, and succeed.
Our Creative Club integrates the visual arts, music appreciation, creative writing, and theater to provide a well-rounded and holistic arts experience for students. With a focus on social-emotional learning and innovative thinking, we offer hands-on creative experiences that nurture children’s positive self-esteem.
Our Theatre Troupe is a special program offered in select schools. Our experienced theatre teachers help students develop and put on a play. With few theater opportunities available at the elementary level, our Theatre Troupe introduces students to performing, public speaking, and working together in a safe and supportive environment.
It was an exciting summer at Tools For Tomorrow! For the second year, 67 students at the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City participated in TFT’s Creative Club once-a-week for 8 weeks. Students created an acrostic name poem, learned about patterns and colors when they painted a butterfly, drew and wrote a comic poetry landscape, experienced gel printmaking, created an artistic tambourine, acted out scenes during the Given Box theatre exercise, made sculptures using model magic, and learned how to play Boomwhackers. The summer ended with a celebration of student’s creativity and an exhibition of the artworks they created. We are very excited that this partnership will continue with a Creative Club throughout the school year.
During the 2024-2025 school year, Tools For Tomorrow will have Creative Clubs at 24 elementary schools (in the Desert Sands and Palm Springs Unified School Districts), 2 Theatre Troupes, and 3 Community Partnerships. Our amazing volunteers assembled over 300 art kits for our first session. Every student receives an Art Kit to use in class that includes: oil pastels, watercolor pencils, crayons, markers, watercolor pan paints, paint brushes, sketchbook, notebook, pencil, eraser, and glue stick. At the end of the session, students keep their art kit so they can continue to be artistic and creative at home.
Tools For Tomorrow has a dedicated staff. Over the summer 11 teaching artists and 2 teaching assistants attended trainings, learning important logistical information, classroom management, and sharing teaching experiences. They also learned new lessons and best practices for how to implement them in their classes. We have 10 fantastic classroom volunteers who shared their experiences, discussed how to partner with the teaching artists and work with students, and learned how to use some of the art materials in the student art kits. It is an amazing group of people who are passionate about working with children.
We are especially thankful for La Quinta Art Celebration. Your support is making a difference in the lives of our children, their families and our Coachella Valley communities. THANK YOU!
