Award-winning artists from across the country are headed for La Quinta this week for the inaugural La Quinta Art Celebration at Civic Center park.
The Thursday through Sunday event replaces the La Quinta Arts Festival, but beyond the new name and promoter, artists and others say the four-day event is of the same quality people have come to expect every year.
Of the 220 artists participating, 170 are returning from last year, said promoter and organizer Paul Anderson, CEO of SCOPE Events LLC.
“Everything is in place,” Anderson said. “The quality of the art is going to be outstanding.”
Art is rooted deep in La Quinta’s history. The city is home to many artists and a signature art festival has been an annual event since the incorporation in 1982.
“We are continuing the tradition and it’s going to be with a lot of bravado,” said Anderson, who has attended several of La Quinta’s past art festivals.
