Jonah Ward was born on August 31, 1984 atop Foster Mountain in Willits, California. There he was raised on a historic homestead at the end of a red dirt road and educated in a one-room schoolhouse until attending Willits High School. Ward received a BFA in 2006 from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA (now California College of the Arts) with a focus on glass. The artist currently splits his time between his studio at his home in Vallejo, CA and his family’s property in Willits, where he is continuously inspired to create artwork from the natural materials that surround him there.
Jonah Ward, a visionary artist with a background in Glass, utilizes molten glass on wooden panels, innovating a mesmerizing fusion of materials. His process-driven approach employs fire to etch abstract patterns, while his Textured 'Paintings' series integrates organic elements like wasp nests and tree bark, embodying a stylistic blend of natural artistry and profound craftsmanship. His work evokes the raw interplay of destruction and rebirth, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between humanity and the environment.
